Our Men’s Basketball is not only fun, but also a place where a man may improve his game and his life. We begin with a time of prayer reflecting on Bible truths. During our scrimmages we focus on fair play, honesty, integrity, abiding by the rules, genuine friendship and teamwork. This is open to men of all ages and backgrounds.

We also sponsor Work Days – a time when we can “give back” to the community for the joy of enjoying our favorite game in a fine facility!

8:00 AM - 10:30 AM on Saturday mornings in the Family Life Center Gym

One of our men’s Sunday School classes sponsors a Men’s Fish Fry on the 4th Thursday of each month. All men are welcome! The food is great (usually locally caught fish, prepared by members). Expect to eat, laugh and do some male bonding! Bring a friend!

They meet at noon on scheduled Thursdays, in the Family Life Center.

Come for a time of fun and fellowship with other men at
The Links at Greenfield Plantation on Thursdays at 5:15 PM. Bring a friend or come alone and play golf any Thursday that you're available. There are no qualifications other than a love for the sport.

If you have any questions please call, David Miller at 545-0708.

All men (14 years and up!) are welcome to join our Softball Team. We are a member of Manatee County Church Softball Association and play games against other church teams weekly during our softball season: 2nd week of February through the 2nd week of May. The games are Tuesdays and Fridays evenings at 7:00, 8:00 or 9:00 PM.

There is a $35 player fee. Uniform and hats are provided.
All players need to be at least 14 years of age and regularly attend First Baptist Church.
Interested men should sign up during the month of December.

Softball Team Wins Award

The First Baptist softball team finished 8-6 this year and missed the playoffs by a third tie-breaker. However, the team received the 2010 President’s Award on April 19 at G T. Bray Park. The award is given out each year to the team recognized as being “the best example to our league and community of a team and church body following The Great Commission set forth in scripture to be a witness for Christ in words and actions.” Matthew 28:19-20

Steve Pearce, President of the Manatee County Church Softball Association, said “Your team’s willingness to forfeit games because of your church’s Passion Play was one of the deciding factors in presenting your team this award. Your team put the Great Commission above playing softball and sacrifices like that is how our league demonstrates the importance of being salt and light to our community.”
